SEC Registered · Fee-Based · Fiduciary
Comprehensive financial planning for business owners, executives, families, and retirement plan sponsors — investment management, retirement income, tax strategy, and estate coordination, working together.
Key takeaways
Fee-based, fiduciary advice.
Our advisory services are paid for by fees, not investment commissions. Like every adviser, we have conflicts of interest — including our asset-based fee and insurance commissions some of our professionals may earn — and we disclose them in our Form CRS and Form ADV.
More than portfolio management.
We integrate investment strategy with retirement income, tax planning, estate plan assistance, and executive benefits — a coordinated strategy.
Specialized in pensions and benefits.
Howard Stolzer holds the AIF® and CEBS designations, and our practice focuses on defined benefit, cash balance, and non-qualified plans alongside personal wealth management.
Personal, direct service.

Start the conversation →Why SRL
Personal wealth does not exist in isolation. For business owners, executives, and families with real complexity, a portfolio strategy disconnected from your pension, executive benefits, deferred compensation, and estate plan is only part of the answer — and often the smaller part.
SRL combines personal wealth management with specialized work in pension design, ERISA fiduciary responsibility, and executive benefits — and we use that knowledge to inform the personal wealth and estate planning decisions we make with clients.
Defined benefit plans, cash balance plans, non-qualified deferred compensation, and group benefits are complex instruments that carry significant tax and estate implications. Howard Stolzer holds the AIF® and CEBS designations, which focus on fiduciary practice and employee benefits.
When your investment adviser and your retirement plan consultant are the same firm, decisions stop happening in silos. We coordinate your personal portfolio, your plan assets, your tax strategy, and your estate plan as a single integrated whole — which is where the real value is created.
A properly designed Cash Balance plan, the estate planning features of a deferred compensation structure, or the Roth conversion window that can open when compensation is deferred are not exotic strategies. They are well-established tools that call for careful analysis of whether they fit your situation — including their costs, commitments, and risks.
Client situations
The following are composite examples based on the types of situations we serve. They do not describe any actual client.
A founder in the medical sector came to us with substantial personal assets built over a career — and a new venture that carried meaningful liability risk. The challenge: protect what had already been built while simultaneously planning for a liquidity event that could be transformative.
Our focus
A law firm asked us to evaluate their existing retirement plan. Our review found plan design and fee issues that limited what the senior partners could save. We recommended a redesign that added a Cash Balance component.
What we did
A company engaged us to restructure executive benefits so that top-level leaders could defer meaningful portions of their compensation. What appeared to be a benefits exercise became a multi-layered tax and estate planning opportunity — reducing current income, creating room for Roth conversions, and laying the groundwork for more efficient wealth transfer.
Our focus
A client came to us with brokerage accounts and inherited IRAs that had not been repositioned after the original owner’s death. We helped correct the structure, align the assets with the family’s estate goals, and build a plan designed to serve the next generation.
What we did
The situations described are hypothetical composites based on the types of planning we provide. They do not describe any actual client and do not represent results achieved for any client. Individual results will vary.

As a fiduciary, an investment adviser owes clients a duty of care and loyalty across the advisory relationship. When SRL acts as your investment adviser, we are obligated to act in your best interest and not put our interests ahead of yours.
Our investment advisory services are paid for by fees: asset-based fees for investment management, and fixed or hourly fees for planning and consulting. Some of our professionals are also licensed insurance agents and may earn commissions when insurance or annuity products are purchased. That is a conflict of interest, and we describe it in our Form CRS and Form ADV.
We do not impose a rigid account minimum, but our services are best suited for families and organizations seeking an ongoing advisory relationship. See Form CRS.
